I was lucky enough to attend that first conference with a close friend, fellow volunteer and former co-worker from the summer. She also taught with me in our Saturday night class.
As we sat, listenting and absorbing these ideas, we began to talk and plan. It seemed so easy - just take what we already had and make a few changes. Of course, it helped our cause that we were both young, insane and full of energy.
So just like that - in the course of a few hours - our class became the testing ground for a new format. It wasn't official, we didn't order Willow Creek's curriculum. We kept our same material, our same leaders, our same room, just changed how we planned things and implemented things.
