The summer ended with a whimper. I was alone for a while while everyone went off on their vacations and other work commitments. I wrapped up a few loose strings and began to process it being over.
I was really, really sad. Heartbroken. As dysfunctional as it was, I LOVED working there. I loved the excitement, the challenge, the absolute joy of working with kids. I loved it all. I felt used in a good way, I felt like I had found my place.
I struggled with knowing it was over. I knew the summer would come to an end, but I was surprised at how quickly it happened. Who knew when I would next get the chance to work in a church again?
