55/365 Loss

A dear friend of mine, a person who is a part of my heart, grieves today for the loss of her friend. A woman who fought a battle with cancer and is now in pain no more.

Cancer sucks.

Death too young sucks.

This friend of mine grieves this month for the loss of her mother. A pain that is in it's 6th year and will go on the rest of her life.

The loss of a parent sucks.

I just don't have words for it. I really don't.

It makes me hope these words are true:

Lamentations 3:31-32
31 For no one is abandoned
      by the Lord forever.
32 Though he brings grief, he also shows compassion
because of the greatness of his unfailing love.

Also - my heart breaks for this young child tonight

A war-orphaned child sat in a cardboard box at the Kizito Orphanage in Bunia, Congo, Tuesday. Hundreds of thousands of people have been uprooted by ethnic and regional conflicts. (Finbarr O’Reilly/Reuters)
